OJSC “GIPROTRUBOPROVOD” was formed in 1939

OJSC “Giprotruboprovod” is a subsidiary of OJSC “AK “Transneft”, performed the functions of General Contractor for the following basic directions:  

• Design of trunk pipeline systems of transport ;
• Formation and realization of the Technical Policy of OJSC "AK "Transneft" at carrying out design and survey operations, experimental development, expert and consultation and process operations in the field of the main pipeline transportation;
• Development of projects of reconstruction, technical reequipment and capital repair of the objects and facilities of the main oil pipeline transportation;
• Organization, management and execution of the field supervision over the construction of the objects and facilities of the main pipeline transportation.

On designs developed by OJSC “Giprotruboprovod”, over 70 percent of the acting nowadays trunk oil pipelines in Russia, countries of CIS and Eastern Europe were constructed.

The merits of the Institute are marked by a great state award - Order of Labour Red Banner, which was awarded for the successful fulfillment of a task for development of the project for “Druzhba” oil pipelines and the great achievements in the field of pipeline system design.

For the period of its existence the Institute has fulfilled many tens of projects of the objects and facilities for trunk oil and oil products pipeline transportation, including:

• Grozny - Trudovaya oil product pipeline;
• Astrakhan - Saratov oil product pipeline;
• Oil pipelines, connecting oil fields of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan Republics, and Nizhegorodskaya Oblast with oil refineries;
• Moscow circular gas pipeline;
• Transnational oil pipeline “Druzhba”;
• Moscow circular oil product pipeline;
• The system of oil pipelines to transfer oil from Western Siberia to western and eastern parts of the former USSR with total length over 11 000 km;
• Yuzhny Balyk - Minnibayevo pipeline for transportation of long distillates of light hydrocarbons;
• Surgut - Polotsk, Kholmogory - Klin, Perm - Almetyevsk, Usa - Ukhta, Kharyaga - Usa, Tengiz - Grozny and etc. (1988 - 1997), Tolyatti - Odessa ammonia transportation pipeline;
• “Caspian Pipeline Consortium” (CPC) oil pipeline system;
• Baltic Pipeline System (BPS). Yaroslavl - Kirishi - Primorsk section;
• BPS-2 oil pipeline;
• “East Siberia - Pacific Ocean” oil pipeline system (1-st stage);
• and etc.

Along with the development of the investment projects, the Institute has fulfilled a large scope of works on the design documentation development for the objects of technical reequipment, reconstruction and overhaul, including the projects for:

• construction of vertical steel tanks at the objects and facilities of the trunk oil pipelines that are now in operation;
• PS process protection against pressure exceeding inside pipeline;
• replacement of reinforced concrete storage tanks for steel vertical tanks at the objects and facilities of the trunk oil pipelines that are now in operation;
• construction of power lines along pipe route;
• construction and reconstruction of systems for production - dispatch communication;
• reconstruction of vertical steel tanks at the objects and facilities of the trunk oil pipelines that are now in operation;
• re-laying with pipe replacement at the underwater crossings of trunk oil pipelines;
• reconstruction of measuring systems of oil quantity and quality;
• sampling repair of defects at the linear part of trunk oil pipelines;
• replacement of crossings over small waterways;
• systems of guard television supervision at PS;
• technical renewal / reequipment for perimeter - intruder alarm at PS;
• reconstruction of fire-fighting systems at PS;
• fulfillment of calculations for Feasibility study for technical reequipment and overhaul of separate objects and facilities of trunk oil pipelines.

The Institute has constantly fulfilled the works on substantiation of perspective development of pipeline transportation of oil taking into the account the state-of-the-art technical and economic factors and predicted assessments of national, regional, European and worldwide tendencies in the petroleum field. The results of these operations are the working out of the hookup schemes of the development of the oil pipeline systems with substantiation of their routes, volumes of load, required production, economic inputs and recoupment. In order to provide maintenance of objects and facilities of trunk pipelines for oil transportation in service condition, the Institute carries out the works on examination of oil pipelines as per the results of their diagnostics, and it performs calculations on pipeline filling with oil and pipeline emptying during the performance of repair operations, as well.   In the field of technical regulation in pipeline system of the main transportation of oil, the Institute carries out the functions of General Contractor for the scientific-research and development activities in the network of which there are the studies on the development and the usage of the modern technical solutions, providing the oil pipeline safety maintenance.           

Foreign-economic activity of the Institute:

• Designs of petroleum storage depots in Afghanistan, Vietnam, Angola, New Guinea, Algeria; technical proposals for oil pipeline construction for India and Jordan; technical proposals for oil product pipeline construction for India and Laos;
• Technical proposals for Oil Tank Farms construction for Kuwait and Turkey;
• Designs of oil pipelines in Iraq and Yemen;
• “Druzhba” oil pipeline system;
• Oil pipeline system of Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC);
• an examination of feasibility studies of Burgas - Alexandroupolis Crude Oil Pipeline design.

In view of new tasks which were given to OJSC “Giprotruboprovod”, the structure of the Institute was changed, as well. In 2001 because of increase of scope for design and survey works the affiliates of OJSC “Giprotruboprovod” have been established in Ufa and Samara. The Institute affiliate in Tyumen was formed in 2008. The main purpose of affiliate creation is to increase volumes and efficacy of performance of design and survey works for the objects of TRR & O program, realized by OJSC “Giprotruboprovod” forces. Priority direction of OJSC “Giprotruboprovod” activity is the constant perfection of organization and management of processes of production so as the output production is to meet the requirements and expectations of the Clients (Consumers).
